Camped for one freezing November night during a short backpacking trip. The site was perfect: welcoming staff, nice little shop but the facilities: oh my! Spotless washrooms, heated floors, lovely hot showers and a most welcome drying room. Nice grassy area for tents, very slight slope, but not an issue. Views to die for. The whole site is a credit to the NT and the local staff.

You can't really beat a National Trust campsite in my opinion. Yes, you might pay a bit more than standard but you know what you are getting. We arrived on the 31st July 2023 for 3 nights. Our intention was to climb Scafell Pike which we achieved the following day. It cost us £19 per night and comes with the usual facilities. The toilets were clean and there were plenty of them, and the showers were hot and just the thing after a quick swim in Wast Water. The staff in the shop were friendly and happy to have a chat. The shop has an assortment of essentials from midge spray to blow up camping mats to snacks and sandwiches. Wast water is only a few minutes walk from the campsite and is ideal if you fancy a quick swim. I went at dusk and had a nice dip.

The best campsite we've ever stayed at, staff were really friendly and welcoming (with loads of great recommendations). No cars on pitches makes the site look lovely, and you feel like you're out in the wilderness nestled amongst trees and mountains. We had a flat, sheltered pitch and there were loads of options for pitching tent. Facilities were excellent, always clean. Shop well stocked with useful and tasty things. Scafell climb was a highlight, and also walked several other trails - all absolutely stunning. A tranquil escape. No mobile signal, so we could switch off properly. Super!

Beautiful site and the location is stunning, at the base of Scarfell. Staff helpful and friendly. It's not at all badly priced either - more than I'd usually pay for solo travel but the facilities are great, wash up, showers, loos, chemical toilet waste area and a drying room - and the price included electric hook up so I thought it was was reasonable at £22pn. No mobile signal unless you stand on the nearby footbridge, but sometimes that's what you need and I quite enjoyed being off grid for a couple of days. Will definitely return. Thank you. (Don't forget the useful hooks for the dog leads around facilities ;) ) Also must add, the NT booking experience was also 5*. I was unable to make the dates I had originally booked due to illness and I was quite late in letting them know and according to t&cs I wouldn't have been able to get a refund or change of dates, but they kindly let me move my booking to a month later. A nice gesture.

Overall its the best place to stay if you wanna hike up the scaffel early and sit in a pub after the hike.. I wish we could have a communal kitchen ( just a microwave or a kettle atleast) somewhere in the big laundry room . Apart from that it's the best campsite I have ever seen

Great carpark with Toilets. Free to National Trust card holders. Great place to do Scarfell pike from and many more walks. We didn't camp at the campsite BUT there is one.

Only went there to get a cup of tea when we came off the mountains. Very nice, clean, and pleasant. Staff were super friendly . There are no covered ares to sit only outside, so make sure you go on a day with no rain.

Right at the bottom of Scafell Pike. Nice little shop open throughout the day. Reasonably new toilet and shower block. Really nice atmosphere as most campers treat it and each other with respect
